History/Overview
The 718 Spyder is sort of a super-Boxster. The car gets more aggressive bodywork and a more powerful engine than standard, and more track-ready performance. This latest even has the front suspension and brakes of top-shelf 911 models.
What's New / Key Changes from Last Year
Just a few years in, Porsche hasn't changed the Spyder model this year.
Available Trims
Just one configuration is offered here, a 414 hp, 309 lb-ft 4.0L flat-six with a manual gearbox or a seven-speed PDK automatic.
Standard Features
Standard 718 Spyder kit includes a lowered suspension and massive brakes as well as active suspension management, torque vectoring, and a mechanical limited-slip rear differential. Convenience features include cruise control and AC as well as bi-xenon headlights. Sports seats, alarm system, and parking assistant are also included, as is the Chrono Package with stopwatch and performance display as well as Porsche Track Precision App.
Key Options
Porsche offers dozens of exterior and interior colour and trim options as well as multiple wheels. Adaptive sports seats and racing buckets are offered, as are LED lights.
Fuel economy
718 Spyder models offer an estimated 13.0L/100 km city, 9.9 highway with the PDK or 14.0/10.1 with the manual.
Competition
The 718 Spyder squares up with models like the Chevrolet Corvette Z06, BMW Z4, and the Audi TT RS, though the latter lacks the open roof. In this segment, Lotus cars become options as well as Shelby Ford Mustang models, Jaguar F-Type SVR, and possibly even the open-top Audi R8.
